Samsung Galaxy S25 Review: Evolution, Not Revolution—But Is It Worth It?
Samsung's Galaxy S25 continues the company's tradition of delivering high-quality smartphones, albeit with incremental enhancements over its predecessor. While the design remains largely unchanged, the device offers notable improvements in performance, software, and camera capabilities.
Design and Display
The Galaxy S25 maintains a familiar aesthetic, featuring a 6.2-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and achieves a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals even under direct sunlight. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, both the front and back panels are designed for durability. The device's Armor Aluminium 2 frame enhances its resilience, and it carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Colour options include Icy Blue, Mint, Navy, Silver Shadow, Pink Gold, Coral Red, and Blue Black.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM. This combination ensures smooth multitasking and efficient performance across applications. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is almost 40% more powerful that its predecessor, that makes it not only the most powerful mobile chipset on the market, but also the perfect engine to power all the onboard Galaxy AI operations on the S25
The device runs on Android 15 with Samsung's One UI 7 overlay, offering a user-friendly interface with a visual refresh and new features that enhance the user experience.
Camera System
The camera setup on the Galaxy S25 includes a 50MP wide lens, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. This versatile array allows for high-quality photos across various shooting scenarios. The front-facing 12MP camera supports 4K video recording at 30/60fps, catering to selfie enthusiasts and video callers alike. While the hardware is the same as last year, according to Samsung, the software improvement will ensure that images on the S25 will look better especially in low-light condition compared to the S24.
